Our speaker will discuss being able to recognize the signs and symptoms of individuals who are victims of domestic violence.

Sgt. LeeAnn Zaner was a 2005 graduate of Henderson State University, where she majored in Sociology/Criminal Justice. Immediately after graduating from college (five days later), she began her career at the Hot Springs Police Department. She’s been employed with the Hot Springs Police Department since May 2005 and has served in multiple capacities and many different shifts over the last thirteen years.

She has served time in the patrol division and the Criminal investigations Division as a Detective. She specialized in Violent Crimes /sexually based crimes, domestic batteries, Crimes against Children, Sexual offenders, homicides and violent assaults and robberies. Zaner was the first certified Forensic Interviewer of Children at the HSPD and has been the lead Detective in over fifteen homicides and has assisted in countless others. She was in charge of registration and upkeep of Sexual offenders and the database for sexual offenders for the City of Hot Springs for over seven years. She is currently assigned to a 12 hour patrol shift and is a Patrol Sergeant. She speaks to multiple organizations on Internet Safety, Dating Safety, Sexual Offenders, Children and “Sexting” and Domestic violence.  She is compassionate about educating the public and helping women avoid becoming “victims”.-

LeeAnn Zaner is happily married to her husband, Cpl. Kirk Zaner, who is also an officer at the Hot Springs Police Department. He is the Public information officer for the Police Department and one of two certified Polygraphist. She has two step daughters, Emily and Erin. In her spare time, she teaches Active Kids Fitness classes at First Baptist Fitness. She enjoys being outdoors with her family, jeep riding, playing in the lake and spending time with her K-9 companions. Zaner and her husband have become Pitbull advocates after adopting the most “privileged” dog in their pack, Leo AKA #Leotherescuepitbull.
